This incredible Bubbling Quicksand is so simple to whip up for some FUN Sensory Play! Master 2 loved playing in this Dinosaur themed Sensory Tub…then Miss 5 had some FUN making the mixture bubble and fizz!
What we used to make the Bubbling Quicksand –
- 3 cups of sand from our sandpit (we put ours through a sieve because it had some bark from our garden in it)
- 2 cups of Bicarb Soda
- 2 cups of powdered cornstarch/cornflour
- 2 cups warm water (give or take)
- One spray bottle filled with Vinegar
Have your little helper mix all of the dry ingredients together in an old mixing bowl, slowly start to add the water and mix until you have a runny and ‘gloupy’ mixture.
The mixture will be runny but will also form a solid when held firm, with movement it starts to go runny again- just like quicksand would.
We then made a FUN Dinosaur themed Sensory Tub using a medium plastic storage container, plastic toy dinosaurs and some other Dino themed toys…it wasn’t long before Master 2 added some toy cars to the mix too lol.
When Miss 5 returned home from school I gave her a spay bottle filled with Vinegar. She used the spray bottle to create this magic bubbling and fizzing Quicksand!! So much FUN!
We stored the container with the lid on for three days (the kids enjoyed playing with it each of those days – if it dries out simply add some more water).
I also found my hands to feel very soft after the mild exfoliation treatment! The closest thing I’ve had to a spa day in ages!
