These Hand Stamped Clay Ornaments are so easy to make using our Homemade Clay Recipe. We found the inspiration for these via Pinterest – Holiday Clay Ornaments.
What you’ll need –
- One batch of Homemade Modeling Clay found here or some Store bought Air Drying Clay
- Rubber Christmas Stamps
- Christmas themed Cookie Cutters
- Drinking Straw
- Paints (acrylic or spray paint)
- Clear Spray Varnish – we used the Craft Smart Brand of clear varnish.
Instructions –
Pre-heat oven to 100c or set to the ‘keep warm’ function. (The oven just speeds up the drying process).
Roll out your clay and then make an impression in the clay using the rubber stamp, cut around imprint using a cookie cutter, poke a hole in the top using the drinking straw and then bake in the oven on a wire rack for aprox 1hour (or until dry and hard to the touch).
*we also made some cute footprint impressions while we were at it ;).
Once they’re cool enough to touch you can paint them using acrylic paints or a spray paint. It’s also a good idea to give them a coat of clear sealer to protect your keepsakes for years to come.
We hope you enjoy making these simple clay ornaments as much as we did.
