For Halloween this year my Daughter (Miss 5) requested a carved Tinker Bell/Fairy Pumpkin for Halloween – this is what we came up with…
We started by removing the top as per usual and scraping out the insides, we then cut an arched doorway and two arched windows to match the door.
My daughter and I walked through our nearest park to collect some twigs to complete our accessories on the Pumpkin – She was one very excited twig collector!
We made a twig bridge as an entry and put a twig cross in each little window. This was easy to do – we just pushed each end into the soggy pumpkin flesh ;). We added a few twigs to frame the doorway also…it’s all about the little things in a Fairy house – or so I’m told!
We used some pink plastic beads to add some sparkly detail to the stairway entry and also placed a large ‘Gem’ battery operated tea-light (from BigW) inside for the light. We had a plastic Tinker Bell Cake Topper left over from Miss M’s 4th Birthday – we decided she could ‘live’ inside the pumpkin for Halloween.
What fairy house would be complete without some pixie dust??? Well I had some mini jars ready to fill for just this occasion (these were purchased from our local discount store for $2.50). We also ran some School Glue over the top of the Pumpkin and sprinkled some glitter on the outside.
We are all very happy with the finished product – especially Miss 5 who keeps asking to go outside to ‘”check for her Fairy friends”.
We hope you like this Pumpkin as much as we do :).

I’m a “crafty” grandma who does crafts with my grand kids each week. This looks like a great site for new ideas.
I cannot find the “gem” tea light anywhere…I’ve looked all over the internet. I think this would be great if I could create this for my grand daughters and I love the tealight…perfect addition ! I tried Big W online and it wasn’t there…never heard of Big W before.
Hi Diane, Where do you live? Big W is an Australian chain store. Here is a link to something similar on Amazon- http://goo.gl/zHw7qR
