Poppy Wreath using Paper Plates

Anzac day this year will be like no other thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many Australians we’re planning on paying our respects on our driveway as part of the RSL’s Light up the Dawn service. You can find all the info for that here.

We decided to also create this Poppy Wreath to lay on our driveway.

You can watch us putting it together here via our Facebook LIVE video.

What you’ll need:

  • Paper Plates (large and small)
  • Green Cardboard
  • Black Cardboard
  • Purple Cardboard
  • Red Paint (We used this brand here)
  • Yellow Paint
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Hulla Hoop
  • This Printable Template (very rough I know!!)

Instructions-

Place your large plates around your hoop to decide how many you’ll need. Paint all the plates (one large and small per flower).

Once the plates are dry you can use this template to cut the plates. Cut a circle of black for each center and frey the outside using scissors. Paint some dots on each of the black circles.

Glue the three flower components together and then tape them to the hoop.

We added some green leaves around the hoop too.

Lastly, cut and paste the sash with Lest We Forget written across it using black marker.

We hope you enjoy this craft activity and are staying home and safe.
