My kids and I love baking, I have so many fond memories from baking with my Nan and Mum when I was little. This Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is SO easy, Miss 8 knows it off by heart. This morning I made them with Master 4 and decided to film it for Facebook – as you can see in the video I allowed him to crack the egg himself (he got it by the third egg so we had an omelette for lunch). I think cooking with kids should get messy and they should have the opportunity to have a ‘crack’ at everything (within reason).
Here’s the easy recipe (you can watch the video here on Facebook).
Ingredients –
- 125g softened butter
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 cup of SR Flour
- 200g of chocolate chips (we always use the choc bits from Nestle)
Method –
Pre-heat oven to 170 degrees Celsius.
Beat the butter, sugar and egg until pale and creamy, stir in the sifted flour and then mix in the choc chips (we used our hands because that’s FUN). Roll them into even sized balls, space them out on a lined baking tray with room to spread. Bake for 15mins and allow to cool on the tray.
We hope you enjoy baking these with your kids! Do they love to crack eggs at home?
