There’s always time for music in our house so I figured, let’s try and make some of our own Instruments! This is a very easy and inexpensive way for kids to get musical & have some fun! Thank you to Mini-eco for the inspiration! You can feel great that you’ve recycled and also made an instrument for less than $1 a piece!
You will need
Cans (we used soup & canned vegetable cans – washed & dried) *make sure there are no sharp edges!!
Balloons
Rubber Bands
Rice
Wooden skewers/Chopsticks
Step 1
Pour some of the rice into the empty cans (a small handful will do the trick)
Step 2
Cut the bottom end off the balloon
Step 3 & 4
Stretch the balloon over the lid of the can
Step 5
Secure the balloon with a rubber band
Easy!
The kids can shake the cans for ‘shaker’ sounds and beat the top for some wicked ‘bongo’ beats : ) We used skewers for our ‘drum sticks’, but you could use chopsticks or sticks from the garden!
Happy Playing!
