DIY Princess Hair Lei
We made a bunch of these CHEAP and EASY Princess Hair Lei’s for my Daughter’s 5th Birthday Party.
They are so easy to make and the materials are very cheap and easy to find at your local discount store.
What you’ll need –
- Hawaiian Flower Lei Necklaces (one made roughly three head bands)
- Roll of cheap curling ribbon (we used two colours)
- Thin round elastic
- Scissors
- Needle or toothpick
- Sticky tape
Start by cutting the Lei and sorting the flowers and straw pieces into two separate containers. Cut the elastic to fit around your child’s head (we cut our length to 25cm for my 5yo). Tie a knot at one end of the elastic then using a small amount of sticky tape attach the needle or toothpick to the other end of the elastic (to help with the threading).
Start by threading on three flowers, then a straw & repeat until it’s full. Remove the needle or toothpick & tie a tight knot to secure both ends.
Cut long lengths of the curling ribbon (double the finished length you’re after), we cut ours at 120cm. When you’re happy with the number of stands tie them to the back of the Hair Lei.
There you have it – a pretty Rapunzel Style Hair Lei – perfect for any princess!
