After I made my son a glowing Galaxy Canvas found here – http://wp.me/p2Uher-1U2 – I decided to make something similar for my daughter.
I thought a ‘Firefly’ theme would work well with the fairy lights so I purchased some butterfly fabric to cover the canvas. I then decided to add some ribbon to hang some photos – thus making it a ‘Light up Photo Board’.
What you’ll need
- Blank Canvas
- Scissors
- Battery operated fairy lights (I purchased these for $2 from BigW)
- Glue Dots
- Butterfly fabric (enough to cover the canvas)
- Nail gun or Thumb tacks
- Ribbon
- Printed Photos
- Pegs or paperclips to hang photos
Start by stretching the fabric over the canvas and securing around the back of the frame with a nail gun or thumb tacks. Then stretch three strips of ribbon across the frame at differing angles and secure with the nail gun or thumb tacks.
Using Glue Dots attach each fairy light behind each butterfly to turn them into fireflies.
Lastly hang some photos from the ribbon and light it up J. My daughter loves looking at photos so this was the perfect addition to her room. You could also use it to hang their hair clips or artwork.
