This was one of the easiest and one of the FUNNEST (yes that’s a word) activities we have done! DIY Bath Paint!
I was super happy with the results & the kids had a ball…it was hard to get them out of the bath!
To make your own, you will need:
Shaving cream (I only needed one can)
Food colouring
THAT’S IT!
We used paint brushes to create our ‘bath art’ and I used this silicone muffin tray to house the paints.
Add a small amount of shaving cream to a small bowl and add a few drops of food colouring (the amount you use will depend on how vibrant you want your colours).
Mix it all up until combined well.
Add your colours into the tray. We had fun playing with different colour combinations and it was great for the kids to guess what would happen if we mixed blue & yellow or red & blue etc. We also played around with different levels of vibrancy too!
Now just let them go for it!
I helped paint their hands so they could make technicolor handprints!
As I said, the kids LOVED this and I would highly recommend you give this a go with your kiddies!
Just a little note – I wiped down the bath with a washer as soon as the kids were done to make sure the grout didn’t get stained. I also put the kids in the shower afterwards to wash off any left over shaving cream or food dye : )

We also have some fun videos for you to view too! You can check them out here.

Thank you! It looks like your gorgeous boys had such a great time! So glad we could lend a hand! We will be starting up a ‘Fan Photos’ album on Facebook soon, would you like us to upload some of your pics to this? Thanks again! Jenni x
Hi Jenni – yes please you more then welcome to post our photos on the FB fan page – after this weekend you can def call us fans!
hi was just wondering does the dye stain their hands much? you know when ou cook with Dye it can stain or not really?
cant wait to try it thankyou
Hi Angela, no, I didn’t have a problem with it staining their hands : ) I do however pop the kiddos in the shower after a ‘Bath Paint Fest’ so it doesn’t stay on their skin too long : ) Jenni x
I put my son in the empty bath with his jocks on and let him slide around in it and paint the bath, then I wash him and the bath off before filling it up to soak the dye from his skin = awesome fun. 🙂
Great & inexpensive idea!
