My kids are very sensitive to mozzies, bugs, sand flies anything you can think of! I say they have perfect blood 😉
When I saw this (very similar) idea over at I Can Teach My Child I thought, surely “that really seems genius, but I doubt it works…calm down Jenni, don’t be so judgemental – give it a try and you never know”.
Well I did and it actually does work! BOOM! I altered the recipe slightly but it is a fantastic clean alternative to some yucky store bought mozzie bite repellents packed with chemicals!
Ok, to make your own you will need:
1/2 cup baking soda
2tsp tea tree oil
6tbs water
The juice of 1/2 a lemon
Method
Step 1
Mix baking soda and water until it is the preferred consistency. I used 5 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of water.
Step 2
Add in the 2tsp of tea tree oil and the juice of 1/2 a lemon & mix well
Step 3
Rub a small amount onto the itchy bite for soothing relief
Step 4
Store in an air tight container…it will last quite a number of weeks if stored in the fridge too – the lemon helps to keep the ingredients fresh.
