I’ve been meaning to make one of these ‘no sew’ Tutus ever since I saw it on Pinterest (before Christmas). Miss M was invited to a Superhero party – perfect opportunity to make a girl superhero costume using one. Miss M loves Spider-Man – and she’s also quite the ‘Tom-Boy’ so this outfit was just her style :).
I checked my pins and found the one I needed at The Imagination Tree.
I grabbed 1.5 meters each of black and red tulle and got to cutting them into strips – roughly 20cm wide and 1.2meters in length (original width of fabric).
I then folded the length in half and looped it through the pre-measured elastic, alternating between red & black. The Tutu took all of about 15mins max – not bad for my first go :).
I just tied the elastic to the right ‘fit’ on Miss M & she wore it over a black pair of ‘skorts’ (becuase we all know how much Spiderman loves to climb). I also used a little of the off-cuts to make a hair tie by using the same loop technique. I paired the Tutu with a Spider-Man shirt (purchased secondhand) and a masquerade mask that I purchased at Spotlight.
I think we’ll do one for Superman next…or maybe Batman.
