Sally Hansen Nail Diary

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Diary

Sponsored by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure.

One of the things I miss most about my ‘pre children’ years is having the time and extra money to go to the Salon and have our nails painted. As my family has grown, our time and money has diminished. We can’t afford to be spending 45 minutes in the salon and that extra grocery money (although I do miss the hand exfoliating massage!).

When I heard about the new Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. I was excited to see if this product would enable me to have nice nails again without having to spend the time or money in a salon.

Like any product we introduce to you, we always like to give it a really good road test and report back with our honest opinions.

Let’s face it, a Mum’s day to day life can be brutal on nails…far more brutal than we like to sometimes admit.

I kept a ‘Nail Diary’ to keep track of the wear and tear of the polish and to see if the product could stand a week in my life.

Day 1

First things first, I hid in the bathroom because #schoolholidays and did the initial paint job. Just as the website told me, I was happy to learn that it actually dried really fast and I was able to apply to 2 coats in the time frame of one Peppa Pig episode lol.  Struggled doing my daughters hair….again! If it wasn’t for Frozen, a simple pony tail would suffice…but no, we need a whiz bang side braid    perfectly aligned to the nape of the neck done with precision whilst my daughter wriggles, whinges & whines! Ok, it’s time to ‘let it go’…sorry nail polish! Ps…naild still on Fleek! A Mother’s life is certainly not glamorous and I think that nail polish gets far more of a workout now then it did pre-kids.

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful – quick trip to the grocery store, backyard cricket, slaving over a hot stove to cook a meal that the kids didn’t want to eat anyway, bath time scrubs and reading the same book again at least 20 times before they finally fell asleep.

Day 2

Nails still on fleek. Spent the day at the beach and applied multiple layers of sunscreen on reluctant kid’s faces, played in the ocean, built a sandcastle and dug a hole before returning up the sand carrying 3,000 buckets and what felt like half of the beach with us. Then home to repeat the same afternoon as yesterday.

Day 3

Decided to Climb Mt Coolum with my daughter. We spotted whales and I felt compelled to take a photo of my well groomed hands to prove that I made it to the top…and more importantly, that my nail polish was still holding strong.

Day 4

Took on ‘Mt Washmore’… today I tackled a different mountain… the giant pile of laundry you can see from space. It’s moments like these that I seriously consider becoming a temporary nudist for the school holidays because somehow my 4 year old, manages to have an average of 3 wardrobe changes a day – even though most days he refuses to wear pants. Don’t even get me STARTED on beach towels…how many loads of washing does one woman have to do? My soul may have been shattered but my nails were still in tact and looking great!

Day 5

Lazed by the pool and watched the kids bomb dive…as I took more photos of my glamorous nails.  I must say, by this point, I am really impressed with my nail polish. It’s normally completely chipped by now and I’ve applied at least 20 coats of Sunscreen this week!

Day 6

I think I just cut my 50th sandwich of the school holidays. Is it just me or do kids eat more on the holidays? Old Mother Hubbard’s cupboards are officially bear. Back to the grocery shop with two kids…and we all know how well that goes. Good times. Good times.

Day 7

Decided to spend the day at home doing fun crafts with kids. Busted open some tie dye. Managed to get none on my hands, but I managed to get a splatter on my foot. You can watch how I made this awesome Tie Dyed Beach Blanket here and admire my nails at the same time.

Day 8

I sneaked away from the kids early and took out my new Kayak. I had an amazing morning paddling with the Whales, that’s right WHALES! You can watch the amazing footage here. I have noticed some wear on my nails after this, but they were in the salty ocean for almost two hours!

Day 9

Sad diary day today, I chipped my nail whilst opening a can of tuna. AND I heard that Bradgellina are no longer together. A sad, sad day.

It’s now time to remove the polish and pick a new colour! I just can’t decide which one and need your help! 1. I would choose 301 RAISIN THE BAR because i feel this colour will make my hands very pretty and i will have pretty nail in the comfort of my own home .

  2. Like Lou I would chose Barracuda…I’m an ocean lover so why not have something a little different. Blue is the new red

  3. ‘Shell we dance’ would be my chosen colour. 1 because my name is Shell. 2 Because I love the seaside. 3 it is a natural colour that can be worn everyday or on a night out. And the 4th reason, I’m a busy mum so this SH product sounds perfect!

  4. OMGOSH the colors I’d have to say “Red Zin” is my favorite because how fun would it be for my nails to match my wine glass!!

  5. 120 Luna pearl! I’d choose this colour because I’m expecting my next bub soon and it’s a precious little girl! This colour would make me feel lovely and fresh (well as fresh as u can be for delivery lol) loved the video ladies!

  6. 411 wine not. Such a pretty color! I love that you said it helps your nails grow, mine are damaged sadly from a few years of acrylic nails. After having my daughter 6 years ago I quit having them done but they just don’t seem to grow like they should. Also who doesn’t love a little shimmer in their color 🙂

  7. Hi thanks for the great video and the chance to win, I would choose barracuda, why? I’m really and pink/purple nail polish colour kind of girl, would be nice to try something different, and let’s face it we all know our daughters will want to use it too because it’s blue and what does blue = frozen/queen Elsa (Isn’t everyone else over this whole frozen thing too?) so it would save me digging through all my polishes because I know this will become my new go to for the kids Good luck everyone

  8. I am loving IN THE BLUE-M! What a gorgeous colour, i can just imagine teaming it up with either some silver or gold sparkles. Let’s be honest, every girl needs some sparkle in their life

  9. I would choose All Fired Up because firstly one of my favorite Pat Benatar songs and secondly why else wouldn’t a woman want to feel All Fired Up!!!!

  10. My daughter (and I ! ) would love to try 601 Barracuda. I think this would be especially lovely on summery toes.

  11. 414, Cherry, Cherry Bang Bang! Love the colour, great name and as I rarely get the chance to do my nails would love a bold colour to wear!

  12. Cherry cherry bang bang . Thanks so very much. As an early childhood educator my hands are always in something and as a busy mum I miss my mum time.

  13. If I have to choose just one then it would be 410 Hat’s off to hue. It’s easier to choose a favourite child than a nail colour. Only joking! I love them all equally of course 🙂

  14. I have to agree with CHERRY, CHERRY, BANG, BANG. A stunning colour and the best name ever for a nail polish.

  15. So funny, Ive been wanting to pretty up my nails for a while now. I went to the shops yesterday and got the sally handson diamond strength polish, I couldn’t find any pretty colours so I left with clear. It’s already awesome, and my nails are so strong! Then I see your video, can’t wait to get some pretty colours!

If I win I’d love pink a card!

    Xx

  16. I would choose jaded im living greens at the moment i love to try this nail polish as i chip it about five minutes of applying it hence why i never wear it

  17. I would choose Pardon my Garden, I love all things aqua/green and thought the name was fitting as I am always saying “pardon my garden” as it is overgrown 🙂

  18. The colours are all so beautiful! I would choose 211 Get Juiced. It’s a bright and pretty color. Nicely painted nails make me feel happy and pick me up if I’m feeling tired or cranky. I’m keen to try this nail polish!

  19. 601 barracuda
I can’t go past a minty blue colour!!!
The only way I can keep long nails is by keeping them with polish on. Have not found one that lasts longer then few days so want to try this!!

  20. I would pick color 171 Pink a Card, it looks like a really fun color! I love the fact that this polish has a growth factor and a strengthener in it!!

  21. What a difficult decision–I’d like them all. However, 171 Pink A Card, did strike my fancy. It’s totally different from the greens, blues, and corals that I usually go for. It looks as if it has a touch of lavender with the pink. Love the look of it.

  22. I do love AFLORABLE because I find it an adoreble colour that will go with everything about me because I think pink is adorable and love wearing it and using it.

  23. I would also have to go with wine not (411) I choose this colour because it reminds me of favourite thing Wine ! And since we are not permitted to drink while working I may as well have my nails painted in a colour tha helps me get through the day , cheers

  24. I love “Wine Not” because really….. wine not? Haha! I mean really who doesn’t love a gorgeous red? Being able to have my nails painted and not chip the first day would great!! I work with kids and wash my hands all day so polish never stays. I say “wine not” give it a try!

  25. I would choose 210 Back to the Fuschia. Love the name for a start, but the colour is bright, vibrant, happy and makes me smile. I would love to give this a try as I am having lots of trouble with my nails at the moment.

  26. Hey…I would choose mudslide…as it goes with everything or for fun cherry cheryy bang as he it’s bright and colorful. …two sides of my personality

  27. I would choose ‘Luna Pearl’ as it is beautifully soft and subtle, perfect for those days when I don’t feel like being bold.

  28. So hard to choose! Kook A Mango reminds me of Summer and god knows we need a bit of sunshine in Melbourne at the moment 😉 I haven’t had a mani since I had my son 4 years ago so this sounds perfect!! 🙂

  29. My nails are in a real bad way due to illness, so I’d happily pick a less obvious one like 170 Pink Slip 🙂

  30. ‘What in carnation?’ Would be my choice. Subtle and elegant for times when I dash from playgroup crafts to pre school drop off to attempting sophisticated at work. I think this shade would hide a few playdoh covered nails!!

  31. Is choose “hats off to hue” or “back to the fuschia”. I love pinks and purples and these would be great to add to my collection.

  32. Barracuda is my favourite shade
Long lasting so nails look freshly made
Love Sally Hansen colours they’re so much fun
    A shade to suit everyone

  33. You glow, girl!
The weather was warming up for summer so that looks like it would be great with a tan, but today suddenly felt quite chilly. I’m moping about.

  34. I’d love the ‘Red Zin’ because it’s about how my heart feels at the moment…..
Maybe a bit of pampering at home is just what I need & someone to do it for me as i’m an right arm amputee too.

  35. all fired up because after i washed honey out of the beagles ears and fur and then discovered the words hello in honey on the glass door, im all fired up – my nails can match my mood

  36. As much as I love all the beautiful colours, “shall we dance” would look be perfect when I want polish on, but not the bold colour
