Milo Waffles

Milo Waffle Recipe - a yummy breakfast treat or handy lunch box filler! We make a double batch and freeze some.

My family LOVE Milo and we also love to make fresh waffles every Saturday morning to celebrate the weekend! We combined our two favourite things to create this super special waffle recipe. We made a double batch so we could freeze some for another morning (re-heated in our toaster), they also make a great addition to the school lunch box! *Milo can be substituted with Ovaltine also.

Milo Waffles (Adapted from the Sunbeam Waffle Stick Maker recipe book)

Ingredients –

  • 3/4 cup of Self-raising flour
  • 1/2 cup of Milk
  • 1/3 cup of Castor Sugar
  • 1/3 cup of cornflour
  • 1/3 cup of Milo
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 1 egg, separated
  •  50g melted butter
  • Cooking oil spray

Method –

Preheat Waffle Maker.

Combine flour, milk, sugar, cornflour, Milo, water, vanilla, egg yolk and butter in a mixing bowl. Whisk together until smooth. Leave to stand for 5 minutes whilst you beat your egg whites until soft peaks form.

Gently fold the egg whites in the batter until combined.

Spray the preheated waffle maker with cooking spray, fill with 3/4 cup of waffle mixture and cook for aprox 4-5 mins. These smell AMAZING whilst they’re cooking!

You can freeze any leftover waffles for 3 months.

We hope you enjoy this yummy recipe as much as we do! You can find more great family friendly recipes here.
