Sometimes we just want need some quiet activities for the children that are easy to set-up and and will allow independent play whilst we get ‘stuff’ done! This even sometimes gives us the chance to take 5 mins to ourselves and enjoy a cup of tea whilst it’s still HOT lol! We often refer to these ideas as Mum Hacks! Mum Hacks are simple tips & ideas that can make life easier – these can in the kitchen, car, play ideas and just about ANYTHING that makes our ‘job’ (being a Mum) easier!
Here are 4 different play ideas using LEGO DUPLO that keep both my children busy playing (both together or individually).
1. EASY STAMPING FUN WITH OUR DIY STAMP PAD #DUPLOMumHacks
These stamp pads are so easy to make (watch the video tutorial here). Simply pair these with some LEGO DUPLO bricks and let your children stamp some fun patterns and print their own stamped towers!
2. SIMPLE PATTERN BUILDING BUSY BAGS
Simply scan a shape or pattern combo, print this on a 6×4 photo and place it in a small bag with the required bricks (these are also perfect for packing in your handbag if you need to visit the doctors or even for car travel).
3. STENCIL FUN
Another simple invitation to play! Set up a table with some LEGO DUPLO bricks and colouring pencils. My children love to build a few designs and then trace the outline onto the paper. This is a great activity to strengthen muscle tone and improve those fine motor skills.
4. MAKE A LEGO DUPLO DOMINO TRACK
Sometimes it’s FUN to think outside the box with LEGO DUPLO too! I bet you’ve never used your LEGO DUPLO sets to create an awesome domino track! We love building tunnels and bridges using the DUPLO bricks. It’s a great opportunity to practice problem solving! LEGO DUPLO bricks are twice the size of LEGO which makes them the perfect size for stacking dominoes!
