Jelly/Jello Silly Putty!

Jelly Silly Putty 3

My kids, especially my daughter, LOVE Slimes, Playdoughs and anything squishy and squelshy, so I am always looking for new recipes to keep them entertained! I recently had a Rainbow Party and had loads of Jelly left over so I made some wonderful Jelly Soap Foam. It was so much fun and smelt divine so I thought I would try my hand at some Jelly Silly Putty! It worked out a treat!

I have made Silly Putty before, as you can see here, it’s stretchy, oozy and super FUN and the kids love it! They love this Jelly Silly Putty too and I am super excited to share it with you!

To make your own you will need:

In a separate cup add approximately 2 tbs of Jelly Crystals

Step 5

Add 1/2 cup of hot water and stir until dissolved

Step 6

Pour out 1/4 a cup of this mixture (we want to keep 1/4 of a cup of the mixure only – you can discard the rest or use it for your next batch!)

Step 7

Pour the 1/4 cup of Jelly solution into a separate container

Step 8

Add 1/2 of a teaspoon of Borax and mix well

Step 9

Pour this solution into your original bowl with the glue and water

Step 10

This is the best part! Stir and watch the magic happen! Doesn’t it look cool! It may take you a few minutes to make sure it’s all combined properly

Step 11

Enjoy this fun, beautifully smelling, sensory Jelly/Jello Silly Putty!

I’ve had our Silly Putty stored in a zip lock bag for two weeks now & it’s still going strong!  This would make a fantastic gift for school friends or to take to kindy for the kids to play with!

*Please note that Borax is not edible so please make sure that anything including Borax stays away from little mouths and tummies!

    1. I don’t know where you are located but here in Texas I buy the flavored gelatin (JELLO) at the Dollar store 3 for $1.00 for the store brand.Hope this helps

    2. Clear glue and liquid laundry starch. Leave out the borax. Use food coloring for color. Little safer than borax.

  1. I love this! I used 1/4 cup of water and 1 tbs Jello so I wouldn’t have extra to set aside. I also used white glue instead of clear because the clear is harder to find and more expensive. It didn’t look as cool but still smelled great and my daughter loved it!

  2. Any idea where to get borax from in uk? I have borax substitute but I tried a similar recipe before and it didn’t seem to work.

  3. This is one of the better recipes out there! So glad I spotted this on Pinterest. I’ll be checking back often for other great ideas. For color not to stick on kiddos hands during mixing process I just have them put some lotion on their hands – works like a charm.
