You will not believe how easy and FUN this recipe is to make! DIY Chalk Paint…that’s right, make your own paint at home!
Ingredients
Chalk – Multicolours
Water
That’s it
All you need to do is whizz together each individual chalk colour in your processor (or if you don’t’ have a processor, a mortar & pestle OR place the chalk in a zip seal bag & bash it with a rolling pin….this is great for getting out any pent up frustrations lol).
I add each colour into a separate dish (which, as a side note, is also fun to play with on it’s own).
Then mix in water until I get the right consistency….I like the ‘thicker’ version, but you can choose what ever your little heart desires : )
I took the kids to the local park armed with my goodies and let them go for it! (I made sure I took a bucket with me to fill up with water to wash up after they were finished too….we don’t want to annoy any of our friendly neighbours!).
The kids have so much fun with this activity! They both LOVE painting (who can blame them) & it makes it even more fun to do it on the pavement…it’s a different spin on the norm! The chalk costs me about $3 for a bucket and water is free…making this a very frugal activity!

This is a brilliant idea! My son loves chalk but we end up with tons of broken and little pieces. This will be a great way to use them up without wasting them. Cheers for the tip 🙂
Hi, I would like to know if the paint dries up and if its still easy to wash off after drying? I am doing an art project for school 😀
Hi Thea, It will wash off with water or rain :). Have FUN!
