Glow in the dark, no cook Playdough

Glow in the dark Playdough 1

We are really in a ‘Glow in the Dark’ phase at the moment!. Thanks to our friends at Wide World of Lights we have our very own black light! They are relatively inexpensive to purchase for yourself too! I’ve said it once & I’ll say it again…I don’t know who has more fun with this glow in the dark business.. the kids or the adults!

I have altered our ‘No Cook Playdough Recipe‘ (which is made in only 5 minutes) have added a secret GLOWING ingredient!

Ingredients

1 cup of flour

1/2 cup of salt

2 tbs of cream of tartar

1 tbs of oil

Food colouring

1 cup of boiling water

Neon/glow in the dark paints (non toxic)

Directions

Mix all ingredients except the boiling water & paint, together into a large mixing bowl

Add the boiling water and mix well –  please take care when using boiling water around children.

Stir well until the mixture is well combined.

Separate your mixture into even balls & add your colour of choice to each (a few squirts does the trick nicely).

Roll it out your dough on a flat surface, wait for the sun to go down, turn on your black light and you are ready for some GLOWING Playdough FUN!

  2. Hello!

I am a writer for ParentMap.com and ParentMap magazine (a Seattle-area parents’ magazine) and I am producing an online article about glow in the dark fun. I’d like to feature your glow play dough and chalk paint on our website. I would describe the project and publish one of your images with credit to you and link back to your blog. Our print publication is distributed across 60,000 homes each month and our website receives more than 1.5 million page views a month.

Please let me know if you agree to be featured!

    Thank you,

  3. I love your website and love all these fun things that I can do with my girls. I did not know that we can make so many things with just little to nothing ingredients. I greatly appreciate you with all these recipes on how to do these projects. I did my first project today, me and one of my daughter work on the frozen silly putty and it turned out great. She was so excited, surprise and happy to witnessed that we actually made “Frozen silly putty.” Thank you very much for your website and I’m looking forward to the project! 🙂 🙂

  4. When do you add in the glow in the dark paint (with the boiling water or after) and how much paint? (Do you measure or just squirt some in?)

  5. I’m going to make this for my classroom of 13-16 kids. How much dough does one batch make roughly? How much glow in the dark paint do I add? Is it possible to use just a plain glow in the dark paint for the batch, then divide the dough up and then add food coloring? I’m hoping that I can do that to help save some money when making this for so many kids.
Could you please email me with your response so that I could possibly see it sooner than a reply on here?
Thank you for your recipe and for your time. Hope to hear from you soon.
